New Church Callings

Tanner and I have officially been called and set apart (as of yesterday) as ward missionaries.  I'm not really sure what we are supposed to do exactly.  Tanner says it is basically just glorified home teaching.  Anyway, I haven't had a church calling since I left my home ward last May, so this will be something new for sure.

First Couple Date

We finally went on our first couple date since we have been married on Saturday, October 22.  The couples were some old friends of Tanner's from high school; TJ and Ashley Whitley, and John and Stephanie. We went to the church/park by our apartment to eat some pizza and then we went to a little corn maze in South Logan called Little Bear Bottoms.  After getting lost in the corn, we climbed the big stack of hay to jump off onto the matresses. They even had a little maze under the bails of hay! It was so much fun to get together with other people outside of work and school.  After the fun in the field, we brought everyone to our place to drink some hot cocoa and play a good game of clue.  So much fun! Here are a few pictures of the friends jumping.

Quick Facts Set Straight For All

Tanner and I have always wondered when our first date was. We knew our first kiss was because that's easy, Jan 1, 2.011, but we could never narrow anything down to a date before the first.  Well we were so bugged about it that we decided to go back in Tanner's phone records to figure it out.  The mystery is over my friends! First text I ever sent Tanner was actually him just texting himself on my phone to get my number on December 4, only a day or two after we met.  We basically hung out every night not doing anything spectacular except eating cup cakes, or listening to him play guitar, or something of the sort. Our first real date was on Dec 9th when he casually asked me out to lunch and I went with him to Cafe' Rio even though I had just barely eaten right before he asked me! Word to the wise men out there, lunch is the perfect first date. No pressure to have to hold hands or pay a lot for dinner or cuddle or hang out after. It is simple and fun and then you can go back to school or work or wherever you have to be.  I may have been oblivious, but I'm pretty sure now that my husband knew exactly what he was doing! I love him

Funnest We've Had Together

Yesterday, I asked Tanner what was the funnest time he has had with me.  We came up with a few times we could remember and I think it will be good to write them down here.

#1. The time we had a picnic for lunch at the church grass/park between his work and where we live now (we didn't live here then, we were only dating). We ate at the top of the little bump/hill there and then we grabbed a kite from the trunk of his car that we had bought earlier. It was a fun lunch together of care free living with pizza and strawberry lemonade and a kite to fly.

#2.  Our spring break to St. George with TJ and Ashley Whitley.  Driving down we were nervous because it was snowing, almost blizzarding on the roads. When we got there though, it was just what we wanted.  It was perfect warm weather to get away from the cold, never ending winter of Logan. We had the perfect amount of swimming and hiking and bonding.  We really fell in love on this adventure even though we already knew we were in love. The red rock and the sun really did good things to our souls.
One of the beautiful views that you can't really catch in a picture.

#3. I love hiking and Tanner kinda likes it too so sometimes he will take me on some up into the mountain.  We haven't been on many yet but when we do, we really enjoy it and the last two times we even saw snakes.  The first hike was just a random hike up the side of the mountain, merely following a game trail.  We had a goal to get to some big rocks and when we got there we found a little snake. We poked it and threw some weeds at it and decided to make our way back down.  The second hike was great too. Tanner proposed to me there on a big rock in a high place right after our picnic.

A collage of the view I saw before he proposed, us, and the ring.

#4.  Jamming out in the car to Bohemian Rapsody. We did this last night after Travis and Taylor's reception on the way to Applebee's to eat.  Sure is fun to turn the music up so loud that you can barely hear yourself belting it out! We had a blast with our air guitars and microphones.  I love my honey that he is not too cool to do the fun stuff like that with me.

#5. Sledding with Tiffany and Nick Thornley.  Nick had just got his snowmobile fixed up and he wanted to test it out, so we all went up the good ole dry farm by the cemetery in Milton with our sleds and let out all our energy.  It was nice to have couple friends that we could play with after always being around single people that were simply living different lives and having different interests.  We enjoyed watching Nick and Tiff as a married couple and seeing what we wanted to be in a few months from then.  I wish I had pictures of the snowmobile and our adventures. The gas can broke, so it was rigged with a lot of duct tape at the time.  Truly fun times.

#6.  Lighting the ground on fire on New Years Night, and of course I can't forget our first kiss that we were pressured into doing in front of the roommates and friends.  haha. That is when we started counting that we were dating.  It is easy to remember.  The boys also made bombs out of somethin in pop bottles that took way longer that we expected to blow up.

#7. Playing raquetball together.  I was horrible at it, especially up to my little pro husband.  My depth perception and bad aim and bad angle guessing just weren't a good match for the game but boy was it fun.  I remember getting dizzy from the endless spinning in the white room.  I almost felt like Alice in Wonderland some of the time because I couldn't follow the ball and I couldn't tell if the room was big or small and the walls were wanting to not be white all the time.  It was weird.  We had so much fun though and we were laughing pretty hard.  I have a goal to one day be able to play that game without making a fool of myself.  It is really a fun game and can be some serious good cardio work out.

#8. Cliff Jumping: Camree Hansen shared the adventure with us. We ran speedily and secretly across the free way when no one was coming and hiked all the way down the weed filled hill side in our flip flops and swim suits till we found our way to the cliffs. The water was high and not freezing cold which made for a good jump.  Unfortunately I hurt my ears on the first jump (like I always seem to do) so I only got the one jump and tried to coax and coax my little friends to keep jumping from the higher cliffs.  There were a ton of people there though considering it was the weekend of the 24th of July.  (or was it the 4th?) I can't remember.  The water was so refreshing and you can't beat a good cliff jumping adventure. Pure adrenaline, but not too much.

#9. We met in the hot tub, so you can probably tell that we both really enjoyed it.  We soon found though that it was much better when we could go and the whole hot tub wasn't full of loud, gross college students.  We liked to go when it was more relaxed, so we would go when it was still light in the evenings.  Most were not interested in that but it was nice for us to go straight when we got home from school or work on a cold day, and even on the warm days.  Maybe one day we will have a hot tub of our own.

#10. Wow, I didn't really mean to have ten things, so last but not least: hiking with Tanner's friends. Jordan, Eric and Eric's girlfriend Jaimee.  We spent a good Saturday morning up in the mountains getting lost and tired.  We somehow went on this wrong trail that led us the some rock scaling that was pretty dangerous and exciting at the same time.  I don't know why we didn't stop to wonder what kind of family friendly trail this was; we had passed a group of kids on the way up.  Finally when we got to a spot that there was absolutely no trail left, we realized maybe we should go back because not even the GPS can save us now.  We were smart to go back.  Good adventure for sure.  On the way back the girls split up from the boys to have some private talk. Somehow Jaimee and I took the wrong trail again, but the boys found us and everyone was glad for the reunion.

These are just a few of our fun times, but we didn't want to forget them.  Tanner said it himself, "The great part is, the best is yet to come! We still have so many more years of good times ahead of us."

The Start of Us!

Tanner and I have been married for 2 months and 3 days today.  I have decided to start this blog to document our fun adventures together!

We were married on August 13, 2011. It was a hot and long day, but a beautiful one too. I started at 5:30 AM to have Taylor Pullen (now Thurston) do my hair because she is amazing at that sort of thing, and my friends Katelin Babcock and Tiffany Thornley did my make up.  We met at the temple at 8 (I think) so that we could be married for time and all eternity in the Bountiful Temple.  It was truly amazing.  After the sealing, we took pics outside the temple and went off to the Cox's for a luncheon and open house.  We had a small half hour break after cleaning up the open house to relax and then we were on our way to my parent's house for another reception. For 2 and 1/2 hours we greeted people and accepted their gifts. And a little cake cutting and dancing and bouquet tossing in the dark of the outside reception.  My friends decorated the blazer for us to leave in because we didn't want Tanner's car ruined. Which I just found out that they were rude and used all of my parents toilet paper, peanut butter, and other things to destroy my parents own car that they would have to clean and we can still see the grease stains from the peanut butter.  Not cool friends, next time bring your own supplies and try not to do damage.

We finally got to relax as a married couple at the Anniversary Inn that night to rest up for our cruise to the Cabo San Lucas and The Mexican Riveria.
