It's A GIrl!

We found out the sex of our baby on Tuesday. It is a girl! It was really neat to see the ultrasound of her.  The doctor said that everything with her growth looks normal and healthy.  We got to see her vertebrae, arms, legs, and some organs.  She has four chambers in her heart like she is supposed to.  There are some pictures of the ultra sound on facebook if you are interested.  The ultrasound tech said she is about the size of a can of pop right now.  They moved her due date back three days to May 1st. I am excited that we are half way through this thing.  Although it has been so very much easier lately, I would still rather not have something growing inside me all the time.  I like to be able to do things myself without being really worn out or in pain, which I can't always exactly do right now.

I feel her kicking and swimming all the time now.  She is usually most active right when I get off of work. It feels kinda like the butterflies and kinda like a muscle twitch.  The further along I get though, the more it is just a feeling of its own.  Nothing is really like it.

20 Weeks Pregnant and other news

Half way today. 20 weeks along.  Things are great.  I can feel the baby movin around all the time now.  Tanner has even felt it now. It took a while for him to be able to feel it because every time I would tell him to feel, the baby would stop kicking.  It is really cool to be able to feel movements inside of me that are coming from someone else's body.  We find out the sex of the baby in 2 days.  Oh boy! or girl... I am excited to see an ultrasound of the little one.

In other news, finals are this week.  I lucked out this semester to only have to worry about one.  My classes are now over! I am so happy that I don't have to go to a 7:30 class in the morning.  Tanner and I have spent all day studying today.  Tanner has more studying to come with other tests throughout the week.  The Christmas break will be happily welcomed.  We will be taking a very small vacation/ baby moon to St. George the weekend before Christmas.  If it were an ideal world, we would be taking a long, exotic vacation to the Bahama's or somewhere of the like to both celebrate the coming of our new baby and to relax for the last time before it is born. But time, school, work, and funds won't permit, sadly.
This is me and my belly growth today at 20 weeks along.  I really hope that I don't have to double in size in the next 20 weeks. :)

Expecting

Tanner and I are expecting to have a little one join our family soon. As of today, I am 18 weeks along and due April 28, 2013. We are supposed to be finding out if it is a boy or girl in 2 weeks. We haven't had an ultra sound yet, but we have heard its heart beat and I can tell that it is growing. No, I don't think I have felt it kick or move yet, although maybe I have and just write it off as digestion or gas. I have heard that after the first one, most moms are able to differentiate between baby and food movements better. I have no idea. I just watch my belly grow and hope everything is ok.

I have had people ask me what it is like to be pregnant. For me, it is like there is something inside of you that is stealing everything. It takes the food you eat, your energy, space for your intestines, mostly your energy. My stomach will cramp like someone is growing inside and bulging and stretching out the my insides. My legs are achy. It feels like I am stuffed full and starving all the time at the same time. I did learn to eat about every two hours to help eliminate a lot of the discomfort and frustration. Things have been better in the second trimester. I'm sure they will get worse in a different way as the baby grows.

It's really not too bad. It's mostly just uncomfortable. When I think about what is coming about from all of this, it is definitely worth it. We are excited to know what the sex will be and to see a picture of the little munchkin. Almost half way through...

The pictures are me dressed up as a pregnant skeleton at about 14 weeks as my big announcement, and me at 16 weeks along. Baby is starting to make an appearance.

Day 1 of year 2

Day one of year two has been all I had ever hoped for.  I told Tanner that if everyday of our marriage were like this one, I would be happy.  I went to 10 hours of work today.  I am trying to make up for the 8 hours I missed while celebrating our anniversary yesterday.  It wasn't bad.  It is amazing how much work you can get done in 2 hours when no one is interrupting you.  When I got home, we enjoyed some homemade pizza. Well, sorta home made.  I got the dough from a box-wedding gift actually. All I did was add water and oil and let it raise for 10 minutes. It wasn't a bad meal.  I have found a great pizza dough recipe on allrecipes that is delicious though, if you are looking for one.  It is quite easy too.  Check it out, Valentino's Pizza Crust.   Tanner played the guitar and we are now both just chillin on the couch.  Perfect day in my eyes. :)

2012 Update

The new year has snuck up on me and now we are in February. Anyway, there have been a few changes with the new year.

I am now working full time at Bridger and North Pointe Apartments (where we live) as the assistant manager. Tanner is still working part time at SDL (Space Dynamics Lab) as a student engineer. We are both going to school now. Tanner full time, and me, part time. Although it feels like I am doing school work more often than him. I am taking human anatomy, which they say is one of the hardest classes at the university, even though it is only a 2000 level course. I am already getting sick of memorizing little details on the skeleton, and eventually everything on and within he body. If I keep studying like I did for the 1st test, I should be ok, but it is going to be exhausting.

Tanner should be graduating next semester (in December) and don't ask me what we will be doing or where we will be because we have no idea yet. We could stay for him to go to graduate school, or we could go try to find a job somewhere. Which most likely won't be in Utah.

So that is our new year. No major changes. Still living in Logan, attending Utah State University, working, and trying to pay off student loans.
